30. Can I File Amended 1040s?

Outline:

Sure; they are called 1040X Forms.

Some Zedheads have filed several 1040Xs for previous years and obtained large refunds, of taxes previously paid in error. That's why one would consider this. Another reason is that if a previous year's return is being questioned, that process can be stopped cold by filing a Zero 1040X.

However, there are some reasons against this practice:

  1. It's VERY rare to get such a refund.
  2. It gives the IRS an excuse to hassle you with Frivolous-Penalty letters for each year
  3. If you're under indictment for such years, it may make things worse.

Tape 5 Side 1 and Exhibit 4 add further to the pro-forma lawsuit for 1040X refunds, using the fact that with-holding was in the nature of a wage tax, not an income-tax prepayment; and Exhibit 8 relates to the trial and conviction of Dr Dentice, who filed 1040Xs after already having been charged regarding what he did before encountering Mr Schiff's zero-return method.
